My stereo is 17 years old, I got it right after I had my first child. Five years ago the tuner stopped working but the CD magazine was still running like a champ so I kept it. Approximately two months it stopped loading CD’s. I kept hoping it would mysteriously start working but now I’ve come to realize it’s a goner. I get far to emotionally attached to my belongings, that’s probably why my house is still so cluttered? The old me probably would have put the broken stereo out in the barn for who knows what but those days are gone so today it’s going in the garbage.
I broke down today and bought a replacement. I purchased a Sony for $98 at Walmart with my Visa check card. I know I could have applied that money towards my credit cards but to tell the truth, I need music in the house to be happy, especially when I’m cleaning house. The old pre debt reduction me, would have bought the $198 stereo or waited and bought an even more expensive stereo elsewhere and not think anything of it.
I’m disappointed in myself and at the same time I’m proud of myself for going cheap. Cleaning the house this afternoon is going to be so much better with music. I just hope this isn’t the beginning of me falling off the credit card wagon.
