I Screwed up Dinner

by messy

I am a GREAT cook and I’m not just tooting my own horn, I really am a great cook. Every great cook has a bad day though and last night was mine.

On the menu:
Orange Chicken
Stir Fried Vegetables
Asian Cucumber Salad
Chicken Fried Rice

I was getting ready to cut up the chicken breast and asked my husband to find them in the refrigerator. He couldn’t find them in frig #1 so I went to look in frig #2 and couldn’t find them there either. I knew I had bought the chicken breasts on Friday, I was thinking that maybe I didn’t make it home with them? My husband had the brilliant idea to go look in the truck. Sure enough, that’s where they were, of course after sitting out for over 24 hours they were spoiled.

I told my husband that I’d go to the store and get some more chicken breasts. By this time he was in a fowl mood, the man loves his food and hadn’t had Orange Chicken for years. He didn’t want me to go to the store so I told him I’d make him some chicken wings (those DID make it into the frig), no he didn’t want those and was just being pissy towards me by this time. I told him I’d cook him some brats but he didn’t want those either.

I ended up making Bacon, Asian Cucumber Salad and Fried Rice. What a crazy dinner. I guess I must have been stressed when I was cooking the rice because it didn’t turn out right. It’s pretty hard to mess up white rice and I’m still not exactly clear on how I managed to do that. The rice turned out sticky but the flavor of the fried rice was still there and the kids ate it up.

For the very first time in 14 years of marriage I somehow managed to leave meat in the truck overnight and it went bad. From the way my husband was acting you would have thought it was a daily occurrence. Rolling Eyes
