eBay Affiliate Sites - BANS or BayRss?

by messy

I’ve been trying to get some more sites up and running.  I installed BayRss but I’m having a hard time getting it to work.  BayRss an eBay affiliate Wordpress plugin that allows you to insert current ebay auctions and Amazon.com products through a RSS feed with just one line of code.  It’s a really cool plugin and great for niche sites.  I have a couple of niche sites I’d like to get up and running.  Ebay currently pays 55%+ of their profit to affiliates that make a sale and $25 for signups that bid and win an auction within 30 days of signup.  There’s some real money to be made and I’d like to get in on it. :-D

Another way I could go is to use BANS (Build a Niche Site).  The BANS site claims I could have a site up and running in about 10 minutes.  This sounds perfect for several domains that I have parked doing nothing except possibly earning GoDaddy money.  I have heard some negative stuff about BANS though, BANS shouldn’t be used on .info sites because Google doesn’t like the combo.  In order to get good search engine status you need to add original content to your BANS site.

BANS sounds like the easy way to go but the themes are very limited.  Where as using BayRss I have a choice of using numberous free wordpress themes.  I’m torn between the two.

Here’s a few BANS stores.  Obviously the themes have been customized.

UPDATE:  LOL - My BayRSS does work!  Nothing was wrong, I just was using the code incorrectly!  Here’s a sample of what you could get with BayRss using this code in brackets:

US $1,700.00 (1 Bid)

US $1,175.00 (10 Bids)

How cool is that?  I think I’m in love!  OMG, this is so freaking cool!  Now I’m going to be super busy creating my new niche sites.  Woo hoo!!!!

Ok, I don’t guess I’m understanding what it is….is it just so you can watch stuff on Ebay or SELL stuff on your sites? So, if you had stuff on Ebay to sell, then you could list that on your blog, right? If it is to just watch….NO WAY, I’d end up bidding at the last minute and spend way too much….lol.

Traci - Sorry I didn’t explain it better. With either BANS or BayRSS (wordpress plug-in) you actually sell stuff on eBay through YOUR site. You wouldn’t be selling YOUR stuff necessarily but other people’s stuff. Best of all you don’t have to worry about finding stuff to sell, listing stuff and shipping stuff out. All that is taken care of by the people that listed the stuff on eBay - you are just the promoter.

First you need to become a member of eBay’s Partner network. Once you are approved, set up a niche site like a REEF flip-flops, Bee Gee’s, Little Mermaid, or Wizard of Oz website. What ever you think would be a popular site. eBay will give you a “campaign number” and this will be linked to your site. When someone clicks on one of your eBay sales from your site, and if they bid & end up winning, eBay will split THEIR profit with you. Depended on how much sales you have for the month you could earn 50% - 75% of eBay’s profit.

Joining the eBay affiliate program is free and easy. It took a few days for me to be approved but it was easy and took less than 5 minutes to sign up.

Also, if you get people on your site to join eBay and buy something, eBay will give you $25 for the first 49 people per month, after that they’ll pay $28 per person.

To find potential “niche” sites I use a free keyword checker, it’ll give you a rough idea how many people look for your keywords a day.

Here’s the link to eBay’s Partner Network.
