We are gearing up for fair!

by messy

We’ve been VERY busy around here.  My girls pigs are huge!  I’m sure they are well over 250 pounds.  Today and Saturday, I’ll be busy washing all the travel trailer linens.  We had a mouse get in there so everything needs to be disinfected.

Sunday morning at 8 am we’re going to set up the displays for the hog pens.  Our 4-H club is trying something new this year.  We’re going to set up pig nipples that are plumbed in to the water line.  I’m a little worried they pigs are going to break the lines but we’ll see. If it works it’ll look very good.

Later in the day my husband will bring the trailer up to the fair grounds.  Sunday afternoon we’ll back the stock trailer up to the pig pen door and the girls will start feeding the pigs in the stock trailer so they get used to it.  Pigs are so smart it only takes a few days for them to get the hang of it.  The reason we do this is because it’s a lot easier to have a pig want to run in the trailer than it is to have to wrestle a 250+ pound poopy pig into the trailer.   Last year it worked so well that we just locked them in the trailer the night before.

My youngest daughter entered 25 crafts in the fair this year.  She’s hoping to get an award for being the most involved.  She has an additional 5 baked goods to enter and we’ll be busy all day Monday cooking both of our entries. :-D

The pigs have to be at the fair on Wednesday at 8 am.  We’ll camp there from Wednesday and leave on Monday.  We live in a really small county and have a very short fair.

The kids are all so excited about fair.  They all think it’s better than Christmas.  LOL

College Life

Last night my oldest daughter decided she wanted to take an additional class at the JC.  We found her a Political Science class that fit into her schedule perfectly.  She’s now taking a whooping 17 units!  I just hope she doesn’t burn out.  She told me that she plans on taking a bunch of classes over the summer too, in hopes of earning a higher priority for enrollment next year.
