That’s right, my husband took a new job. I’m really not sure why he even involved me in the decision making proecess because clearly he already had his mind made up. He’s still going to be making good money but he’s taking an $800 a month DECREASE in pay! If he’d listened to me, he’d have more time off and have an increase in pay of 100K per year and he’d only be working 6 hours away versus 12! Oh well, what’s done is done, now I need to figure out how to trim our spending by $800 a month. I’m not sure cutting back anymore is possible.
I’m going to step up and try to increase my online earnings. If we fall short I’m going to have to go out and get a job. This is a real joke, I could work a whole month and not bring home as much money as my husband could in a day, had he taken the job I wanted him to take. Me looking for a job will cause the biggest fight of our marriage. My husband flat out wants me at home, no ifs ands or buts, he doesn’t want me working. I don’t know what else to do though. We’re committed to these stupid loans and child support (boarding school for his daughter) for another 1-2 years. I guess if it comes down to it we can sell my Suburban, the monthly payment is $750+.
This weekend has been highly stressful. The icing on the cake was discovering that my Prince lost his passport only God knows where. We both remember about a year ago him putting his passport in his brief case. I told him to put his passport in the gun safe with the kids and my passports. I even told him he was going to lose it. Well of course, now that he has to go to Canada for his new job in the next few weeks, he can’t find his passport. There goes another $120+ for the expedited passport. This was so avoidable.
I had a bad gas leak
I guess I’m immature because that heading cracks me up. Lucky of all of us the propane leak was outside. Not so lucky for us we got a HUGE gas bill. My bill was for over $500! We only have two appliances in the house that run on propane, the hot water heater to my master bedroom and the heater. The heater we haven’t used at all since its summer. So over $500 for a water heater for two people from April - August, I thought that was ridiculous so I called and requested a leak check and sure enough we had a leak. Now I’m just hoping the gas company steps up and assumes the responsiblity for some of the gas leak since the leak was at their tank.

Sell the car and get rid of that $750 payment. That only leaves a $50 difference per month to break even. The child support for the boarding school is lame, but there isn’t anything you can do about it. Money doesn’t solve every problem, it can help, but it’s not always the solution. I’m curious if he helps you with the money management?

Jim - Here I go with my excuses. While I’d love to sell the Suburban and eliminate the payment, if my husband is out of town (with his new job he’ll be gone 2 weeks and then home 1 week), the Suburban is the only 4×4 to get us over the mountain (1 hour drive) to a hospital in an emergency. I guess I should get a set of chains for my little truck and stop making excuses. The Suburban is also the only vehicle that will seat all of us. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it and if our finances are just too tight the Suburban will have to go!
Karla - I’m happy I’m not the only immature one!
