Online Earnings For September

by messy

I’ve been looking forward to making this post.  This is my first month getting semi-serious with affiliate marketing and making money online.  I’m happy with what I’ve made in September with affiliate marketing and am hoping to at least double my earnings in October.

Here’s the breakdown for September:

CJ……………. $ 2.45
Clickbank…… $44.36
EPN………….. $56.17 (ebay partner network)

For a whooping total of $102.98!  I’m also going to throw into this my first sale on EPN on Aug 23rd, $46.00.  I made a grand total of $148.98 with three new websites.

Ebay pays affiliates 50% of their profit for driving traffic to ebay’s site.  You can imagine how much money a site with a lot of traffic could generate.

I used two different types of software to pull ebay auctions to my site.

BayRSS is a wordpress plugin for listing ebay auctions on your site. BayRSS also pulls Amazon products. I use BayRSS everyday on my blogs. It’s very easy to use and only $37. PhpBay Pro is a similar product and retails for $79.

BayRSS features include:
Easy auction insertion one little tag does it - nms:keyword, shownumitem, minbid, minprice, customid
Current auctions are always up even on old posts
Free upgrades for life
Link cloaks - no visible outgoing links to ebay (good for SEO)
Unlimited license so you can use BayRSS on all your blogs
100% 60 day money back guarantee
Revenue sharing (so you can split your revenue with guest bloggers if you choose to)
Rich keyword inner links
Supports stores for USA, UK, Australia and Canada

My second software program I earned money with EPN is a BANS site. I really like BANS (Build a Niche Site), it’s easy to set up a store and in about 10 minutes your store could be up and running.

BANS Features:
Easy store set up
Great support with an active forum

Here’s a sample store (not mine).

I think BANS is easy to install and if you run into any problems, the BANS forums are very active and you can find help there.

What’s my favorite EPN RSS software? I’m very familiar with wordpress so hands down my favorite is Wordpress with BayRSS. Google LOVES Wordpress and so do I.  While I like the ease of setting up a BANS site, I’m a little leary about Google sandboxing BANS sites. I have had a .com in the sandbox for over a month (if it had not disappeared from Google, I’m sure my EPN earnings would have been doubled for the month) and the BANS site has plenty of content pages but it still got sandboxed.  After getting sandboxed by Google I added a Wordpress powered blog to the site, I make weekly postings, have been busy building backlinks to “do follow” blogs, and I’m still waiting to get out of timeout. I’m hoping to get out soon so I can make some more money! :-D

If you do a little searching around you will find a developer that has managed to integrate Wordpress and BANS together using Wordpress themes. Wordpress in the root and BANS in a new directory. Here’s a tutorial.

What I’m doing with BayRSS is almost the same sort of thing as integrating BANS and Wordpress but probably a little more work. I set up my store with wordpress pages, I use the pages like a store page in a BANS store. I then make my posts as usual and at the end of every other post or so I add a 3-5 ebay auction links related to my post like you see below.

Haa! I can’t think of anything on ebay relevant to my post! Here’s something I’ve been wanting a long time but can’t afford! A Coach bag! :-D

The code I used is below with [brakets] on the ends.

nms:keyword,shownumitem,minbid,minprice,customid

I changed the code to:
nms:coach handbag,3,5,80,customid

added brackets and up popped these gorgeous bags! How easy is that?

If you’d like to try making money with the ebay partner network (EPN), research your niche, get a good domain name - stick with .com’s, get yourself some webhosting and one of the great products listed above and you’ll be off and running and making money online!

I recommend Bluehost Web Hosting, they give you a free domain, host unlimited domains and unlimited space with just one account. They offer great 24/7 support too.

Go check out John Chow’s blog, he made $38,030.97 in September!  Wow that’s a lot of money!

Total Blog Income for September 2008 - $38,030.57

September 2008 goes down as the blog’s second biggest income month. The blog did break $40K back in June but that was due to a $10,000 blog post. If that post was not taken into account, September 2008 would be the biggest month ever. Here’s the income breakdown.

Great News! I read your first few posts on this and I purchased BANS and am trying to work on some things to get myself set-up. The problem I have is coming up with a Niche to focus on that I feel is going to work.

I think part of it, is I have a lot of stuff going on a work right now that is also stressing me out… so it may take me a while longer than I originally planned to get mine set-up but I keep plugging away.

Question: where are you getting your ideas for your sites?

Good luck!

Hi Kristin!

Two of my niches I don’t really know anything about but my husband does so I mostly rely on youtube for videos on the blog and information thats freely available for the content on BANS or posts on Wordpress.

I also have a WP blog with BayRss and its a hobby that I’m into and have been doing for about 14 years so the posts there come easily to me. This site is less than a week old.

Another brand new niche blog I have going isn’t really a secret so I’ll spill. It’s a dieting blog. I’m on a diet so I make posts about my progress and have links to all sorts of diet stuff. I’ve signed up for a few diet type businesses with Commission Junction. This isn’t my blog here but its a good sample of a Wordpress blog with BANS integrated into it.

I go to FREE WORD TRACKER and see how many people google my keywords for a niche blog I’m thinking about creating. If there are a lot of searches then I’ll go over to ebay and see what they have that I could list on my site.

Another thing I do is go to Ebay and click on the SELL button. You’ll see a “what’s it worth” box. Type in random stuff and see what the average price sold is and the average listings sold in the last 3 weeks. You don’t want to get stuck with a niche that has little or no sales.

I just typed in “perfume” the average price sold is $26.99 and 41,355 listing sold in the last 3 weeks. That’s not bad at all.

Now I typed in “timeshare” and see that the average price sold is $600.56 and only 95 listings sold in the last 3 weeks. The sales prices are great but with only 95 listings sold I would avoid this niche, I think the competition would be too steep.

What is the ‘I’ in ‘URI’ under leave a reply? Shouldn’t it be an “L”

Anyhow, Fantastic Job. I would like to this sort of thing but I am afraid it is very time consuming. What is your take? Do you spend mucho time trying to affiliate???

Great blog.

Hi Kristin!

I Just stumbled across your blog. Very interesting. I have two BANS sites that I am also converting to include wordpress. Hopefully this will help them rank better.

Christine - This is a free Wordpress theme. I guess typos happen, I know I make them all the time. I can’t complain!
