paying-off-credit-card-debt-01-2010 I just finished making my January 2010, credit card payments. Again I decided to pay as much as possible. I’m now down to owing $17,662.13 on two credit cards. This month I’m paying off credit card debt in the amount of $1,831. I will continue to pay as much as possible every month on my credit card bills.  I can’t wait to have this debt off of my back once and for all.

Getting Out of Credit Card Debt

If you’d like to figure out how long it will take you to get out of credit card debt be sure to check out this wonderful snowball calculator.

Right now my plan is to continue paying approximately $1,800 a month on the credit card bills unless something major comes up.  I will pay more if I can manage it.  This June I will have an additional $750 which should help me get out of credit card debt faster.  According to the snowball calculator, if I can keep up this schedule, I will be debt free this November!

Hopefully my online income will see a dramatic increase in the next few months.  When it does, I will apply all this money to paying off credit card debt.

Thanks for the comment D! I couldn’t agree more.

I can’t believe at one time I actually thought having credit card debt was normal.

I personally would find the amount of debt you have on credit card frightening. I think we all have some debt now, if we don’t we’ve probably won the lottery, however, credit card debt is perhaps the worst if you can’t pay it all off on a monthly basis. High interest rates are crippling and they are notorious hounds when it comes to defaulting on repayments. Good luck to you on getting it paid off.

jpkittie – Thank you!

D – Gosh that’ll be the day won’t it!

FinancePro – I agree with you. $17,000 of credit card debt is crazy and I’m working on getting it all paid off. I’ve been at this two years now and it’s getting old, I’m so sick of being in debt. Owning “only” $17,000 on the credit cards feels a lot better than owning $40,000+! Once we finally become debt free we’ll stay debt free. ;D
