My Crazy Debt

My blog about life and getting out of debt.

Cleaning… I got a bunch of cleaning done today. I cleaned out a closet and found five black widows in it. That’s not cool at all. I killed them and sprayed ant spray (it was either that or mosquito spray) around the baseboards. This weekend I plan on setting off a bug bomb, hopefully I can wipe them all out.

I also tidied up my bedroom, did a bunch of laundry, and finished cleaning out the feed room in the barn. My house is really starting to come together. :D

Fighting… I was so pissed off at my husband this morning. I’m not going to go into the boring details but he’s still on a business trip, he’s been gone since Monday, and I feel ignored and neglected because I have been ignored and neglected. I’m not one of those women that want him calling in all the time or texting me constantly, I’m far from it but when work is over, come on, I think I deserve a little time, like maybe ten freaking minutes or some texting back and forth at the very least.

Apparently, I’m still immature, this morning I decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. I ignored his calls and his text messages. Did he like it??? Nope, not at all. After an hour he text me saying he was freaking out and was going to call someone to come and check on me if he didn’t get a response. So I responded.

Making Up… I think (hope) he finally “gets it” but I’m not so sure. He was really freaked out and told me he’s so sorry he did what he did last night. He had some excuses, blah, blah, blah, but I told him I didn’t want to hear the excuses, I just wanted him to realize how it hurts to be ignored. He apologized and now we’re ready to kiss and make up. We only have 1,690 miles between us. Friday can’t come fast enough.

Six Sacks of Junk…

Six sacks of junk - that went into the trash
Five spider webs - knocked down
Four loads of laundry - that got washed
Three bags of toys - to donate
Two splinters - in my hand from the rake I was using
One Vacuum - that got a workout

My son’s clean bedroom!

He was so excited when he came home from school and saw his clean bedroom. He never even asked what I’d done with all his stuff. I saved all the important stuff, his books, legos, and hot wheels. Now the real battle begins, keeping it clean.

Edited to Add:  Thursday morning when my son woke up he made his bed and was telling me how much he LOVES his clean room.   Hearing that made me feel so good.  :-D

I’m Back!

We had a great time on our trip. My kids got in a lot of swimming and thought it was one of their best vacations ever and best of all it was FREE!

Even though we had a great time it feels so wonderful to be back home. Like they say, “There’s no place like home”.

I did some shopping while we were gone. I know I’m trying to pay down my debt but my three youngest kids had outgrown all their summer clothes from last year. We ended up going to a Walmart Super Center where I bought my girls a bunch of summer tops but I couldn’t find any denim shorts there. I also bought my son a bunch of outfits, shirts and shorts. I ended up spending about $200. Next we went to Factory 2U and I spent less than $60 on 9 pairs of denim shorts - ironically there were all Walmart’s Faded Glory brand, they must have been last years? I feel like I really got some great deals. I paid for these purchases with CASH and now my kids should be set for the summer.

I ended up getting another load of stuff yesterday from our storage unit. I’m probably two truck loads away from having it completely cleaned out. I’m getting excited by the progress I’ve made even if it has been slow.

Now I’m up to EIGHT books sold on half.com. They have deposited $40.07 into my checking account and I have another payment of $27.11 pending. I think that’s a pretty good payout for very little work with books I had just cluttering up my house.

  • Update…..

I’m about 80% done cleaning out my closet. I have 3-4 bags of clothes and I also have a box of stuff like old purses and a brief case to donate to Hospice . For Ebay I have a whole basket full of NWT (new with tag) men’s button down casual shirts. I’m going to get them ready and list them on Sunday afternoon.

I still need to clean off the dressers and my messy desk. Already my bedroom looks twice as big as it did before I started cleaning and I have to tell you, it feels wonderful!

I got an email from American Express Blue and my balance transfer with through! Woo hoo I went from 14.9% to 4.99% until the balance is paid in full!

I sold two books on half.com yesterday. That’s another $17 that I can apply to my credit card debt. I’ll probably wait until the end of the week to make that payment, just in case I sell a few more books.

I bought the paint for my daughter’s bathroom and I’ll be painting that probably this afternoon. I went with Walmart paint - it’s such a great deal and it really is nice quality paint. I’ve purchases expensive paint in the past but I really don’t see any benefit to using expensive paint, I don’t even think it covers as well as Walmart’s paint. For $28 my daughter is going to be getting a nice fresh bathroom. I choose white for the ceiling and trim. I choose “Suede” for the walls. It’s a light grayish tan color. I’m hoping to make the tiny bathroom have an expensive spa type look and feeling.

I feel as though everything in my life is really coming together. I feel like I can breathe again, I’m not a prisoner to my bills or my clutter. I’m back in control!
